Mary has always been passionate about instilling values, fostering social and emotional development, and promoting learning dispositions in children.
Drawing on her experience as a teacher, early years practitioner, and parent, every story Mary has written aims to help children learn values, foster dispositions for learning, and support social and emotional, cognitive and language development in a fun and playful way.
Through Leila’s whimsical and adorable illustrations, children are drawn into the fun and playfulness of the story. The Kadoodlypop Series promote creativity, playfulness, teamwork, community, celebrations, problem-solving, turn-taking, vocabulary building, understanding feelings and emotions, building friendships, empathy, kindness, manners, being helpful, confidence, perseverance, trying new things, exploring, safety, supporting others and much more.
Mary Roys and Leila Elgersma are two sisters who have partnered as an author-illustrator team to create ML Book Corner.
They share a dream of creating books for young children that are fun, playful and filled with cute illustrations.
The Kadoodlypops Book Series is named after a fictional town where each story is set. Every story, filled with lovable dinosaur and animal characters, promotes values, dispositions for learning, and social-emotional development.
Leila and Mary are first and foremost mothers who want children to enjoy the stories that they co-create in ML Book Corner while also gaining social skills, emotional awareness and learning family values.
